Washington, D.C.At the conclusion of the NFL owners’ vote to move the Raiders to Las Vegas, Congresswoman Barbara Lee issued the following statement:

Members of the Raiders Nation just received some terrible news

“I am deeply troubled by the outcome of today’s vote. Oakland is more than capable of sustaining an NFL team. From the sale of season tickets to Oakland’s commitment to renovate the Coliseum, the Raiders have enjoyed overwhelming support from the East Bay community. The City of Oakland and Alameda County once again displayed that commitment by putting forward a viable plan to build a world-class home for the team. This decision flies in the face of the NFL’s own guidelines and displays a callous disregard for the loyal fans who have enabled the Raiders to thrive for generations.”

Editor’s note: Earlier Monday the NFL announced the owners had voted, 31-1, to approve the Raiders organization’s move to Las Vegas, NV. It’s heartbreaking news to the millions of Raiders fans in the Oakland area.
