The Los Angeles Chargers have announced they will conduct their training camp at the Jack R. Hammett Farm Sports Complex in Costa Mesa, which is adjacent to Costa Mesa High School. The address is 2750 Fairview Road,  Costa Mesa, CA 92626. The team reached an agreement with the city of Costa Mesa earlier this week for the facility. The Complex features six fields and is a hub of youth sports in Costa Mesa, including soccer and flag football.

It’s been a long tradition of the Chargers to open their training camp to the fans when it opens in late July. The fans can watch the practices within feet of the practice field and cheer on the team as they prepare for the 2017 season. They will have the opportunity to meet the Chargers Girls and Chargers alum players during practice and when the practices are completed there is the opportunity to talk to the players and get autographs.

There are interactive games to take part in plus concessions and Chargers gear available for purchase at all Chargers practices.

Chargers President-Football Operations, John Spanos said, “We are proud to hold our training camp at the Jack Hammett Sports Complex and feel it’s going to be a tremendous location for us to prepare for the upcoming season. We are very excited to create this partnership and grateful for the Costa Mesa City Council and their hard work in making it happen.”

General Manager Tom Telesco said, “While it’s a lot of hard work for the players and coaches, we hope that Chargers fans and their kids will come out to watch and have fun at training camp. Some of my best football memories are the times I spent with my dad watching the (Buffalo) Bills at their training camp in Upstate New York. I am proud that we can start this tradition and create new memories in Costa Mesa.”

“This is going to be a great location for both players and fans,” Chargers Head Coach Anthony Lynn said. “We’re going to work hard, because that’s what training camp is for, but we also want it to be a fun place for our fans to come out to watch us practice and get to know our team.”

The terms of the agreement between the City of Costa Mesa and the Chargers allows the team to use the Complex as their training camp for up to 10 years,  for three to five weeks per year. The Chargers can also use the facility for one week during its annual bye week, which usually occurs in the middle of the NFL season.

The Chargers will spend approximately $1 million on improvements to the complex and pay $150,000 in rent annually.  In addition the Chargers will make a one-time contribution of $50,000 toward the City of Costa Mesa’s new Mobile Recreation Program Van and a $10,000 donation to the youth soccer organization AYSO #120.

In 2010 and 2014 the University of Alabama and Florida State University used the Jack Hammett Sports Complex to prepare for their championship games at the Rose Bowl.

The Chargers’ corporate headquarters are now located in The Hive, 3333 Susan St, Costa Mesa, CA 92626
