The Los Angeles Emergency Management Department has issued an evacuation notice for the Malibu area. A fire has broken out near the Getty Museum. The Los Angeles Fire Department said this is a very dynamic fire that is driven by high winds, 20 mph and higher, with gusts over 40 mph. Humidity is only 24%. They are telling motorists to avoid the I-405 in that area, and specifically the Sepulveda Pass. Here’s an LAFD map of the evacuation zones.

Over 200,000 people have been ordered to evacuate, including Lakers star LeBron James who tweeted that he and his family had trouble finding a hotel to stay in during this emergency. Apparently the evacuation center are getting filled up fast. Various outlets are reporting people are sleeping in their vehicles in the parking lots.

They also noted there are more than 10,000 commercial and residential structures in the evacuation zones. Mayor Eric Garcetti tweeted a message to the area:

This is just one of hundreds of fires around the state of California. In Sonoma County the Kincade Fire has spread to more than 66,000 acres. The fire has destroyed 96 structures, including wineries. That fire is only 5% contained as of Monday morning,

The Pacific Palisades Fire is now 75% contained.

Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency across the state. No rain is expected for quite some time, although a cold front came through the area this weekend.
