Tips for Hosting an Awesome Party

Regardless if it’s a holiday party, or simply a fun night to socialize with your friends, below are my top 15 tips that you could use to make your party a success

1. Choose a theme. If you want the best incentive for people to attend, themed-parties are the solution. Throw an ugly Christmas sweater party (a tried and true party), or perhaps come up with your unique theme by thinking outside the box!

2. Create a contest. Consider holding a contest if it’s a themed party. You could consider “best Valentine’s Day cupcake,” “best couples costume,” “ugliest holiday sweater,” etc.

3. Be creative. Include pictures to your invites and ensure the wording is exciting to your guests.

4. Build excitement. Take advantage of social media: create a new event on Facebook, then tweet about it using a customized hashtag (such as #uglysweater2020), and send out invites through email.

5. Send reminders. You shouldn’t let your invite go unnoticed in your friend’s inbox. As the event approaches, ensure to send out reminders. Share this event on Facebook, send texts about how excited you are, and so on. The more conversation and excitement regarding your party, the better.

6. Create lists. It has come a time to commence your party preparations. Put down several lists that can help in keeping your event organized.

7. Prepare your food menu. In a themed party, ensure the menu works with the theme. For instance: make several Ugly Sweater Cookies if your guests are expected to wear an Ugly Sweater, or have a cookie decorating bar.

8. Prepare your drink menu. Do you want a fancy party? Wine, a specialty cocktail, and martinis will do the trick. For more casual, sangria, beer, and some bottles of different liquor and mixers will satisfy your guests.

9. Plan your decorations. That doesn’t necessarily mean you should go overboard. With a hint of decoration, it’s sufficient to create an atmosphere. Go neon with these led lights from Premier Glow.

10. Prep. On the night before, you should prepare as much as you can. It involves prepping the food, decoration, and stocking the bathrooms with lots of toilet paper, and so on.

11. Clean. Ensure to clean your house or the entire area where your guests will be. No one wants to hang out in an unready, dirty space.

12. Get ready. Ensure that you’re ready approximately 30 minutes before the party if you want to avoid a last-minute rush of doing your hair after guests arrive.

13. Set the mood. For holiday parties, playing some holiday tunes would be ideal. To provide theme-appropriate music, make a playlist, or use Pandora or Spotify.

14. Prepare for early arrivals. A few guests will inevitably arrive early. Have some drinks and appetizers ready to go to avoid any awkwardness. It will help in making conversation.

15. Play host/hostess. Roam around, greet every guest, and take some minutes to chat with all of them.
