‘We’re Not Married?’ Hits High Note With Audience At Special Hollywood Screening

Audience members had a lot to say about the new film We’re Not Married? directed by Cynthia Garcia Williams with Lisa Vidal (Third Watch, Bel-Air, Grey’s Anatomy).

The Indie Rom-Com features Danielle Larracuente, Joey Nisivoccia, Philip Smithey, Juliah Taylor, with Eric Roberts and others.

The film prompted much excitement and clapping from the diverse entertainment industry audience that packed the Harmony Gold Theater Thursday.

Mark Richardson, owner of Fury Media Management took a moment to share his thoughts on the movie. “I thought the move was great. I love to see filmmakers coming together. I love to see movies. I love to see movies being made. I love to see movies in the can. I congratulate them for getting the movie in there,” Richardson said.

“From what I understand it was a mix of Latina and Black women who came together and put this film together. The hardest thing is getting a movie made. It was good to see. It was a good movie, Richardson stated.”

Richardson believes that the movie has great potential, a sentiment that was echoed by others in attendance. “It was definitely a good movie, it’s definitely going to do a lot,” he said.

Natalie Harper Speech with the Black Entertainment Museum Foundation stated, “Both our cultures mixed together and made something beautiful happen. Oh my God, it was wonderful.”

Speech continued, “Great representation. I like to see that on the screen. There are some happy ever afters, it’s just everyone’s is different. It was fun.”

Miriam Holder Jacobs, a producer in Hollywood with Major Film Events, came out to show support to her friend.

“This was so well attended. I know the grandmother of one of the actors, her grandmother is a good film producer, and she invited me. Her granddaughter did such an incredible job,” Jacobs told me.

Local Los Angeles bakery Jamison Cakes supplied moviegoers with delicate treats. Owners Erik Jamison and Tess Jamison were excited to provide service. “We’re glad to be here,” Tess stated.

Following the film screening executive director Rae Lashea stated, “I just want to give glory to the most high, appreciation to all those within the production who lent their talent, time, and expertise and worked tirelessly to make the film a success, those outside of the production who supported us with encouragement, motivation, resources, and financial contributions, and everyone who showed up to our screening of the film to celebrate Latino Heritage month and the very first viewing of the movie,” she stated.

“It’s through trust in ourselves, each other and in the process, and of course God’s grace that we got here and it will be those very things that keep us going,” Lashea added.

The movie will open as the feature Rom-Com at the La Femme International Film Festival on October 24, 2024, at 8pm at the Regal Live Theater DTLA.
