The 2018 LA Auto Show is still six months away, yet the 110-year old event is already generating excitement for car enthusiasts, technophiles and shoppers with attendance expected in the hundreds of thousands. This year it will be held from November 30 to December 9, a 10-day event that promises a buzz of activities for the attendees. Touted as the most exciting event for car fans and enthusiasts, auto shows feature exciting technology and debuts of new cars that will soon go into production.

Announcements and Test Drives

At the start of the show, the organizers make important announcements. In 2017, the Green Car Journal which hands out the award for the Green Car of the Year since 2005, bestowed the honor on the Honda Clarity. Car manufacturers also make their own news conferences before the show to inform the public of what to expect with respect to their brands.

While it is not possible to buy a car at the show, attendees can ask questions and be connected to vehicle manufacturers if a purchase is planned. The good news is test drives are possible so you can get in that hot Porsche Panamera and feel the power underneath even if you are not likely to buy it. Likewise, get to know driving capabilities of practical SUVs such as the Kona or the Toyota Adventure Concept.

1,000 Vehicles and Debuts to See

There will be 1,000 vehicles that will return on the display stages of the LA Auto Show. Several new debuts are expected in this year’s event but no formal announcements have been made by the organizers. But if it’s anything like last year’s show, then 2018 will be an exciting event. Take the X7, BMW’s flagship SUV. This is the first 3-row model from BMW. It is expected to offer hybrid options as well as inline-6 and V-8 options. The X7 will take on the likes of big names in the same category such as Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Lincoln Navigator.

Other notable debuts made in 2017 include the 2019 Infiniti QX50, 2019 Lincoln Nautilius, 2019 Volvo CX40, 2019 Subaru Ascent and the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. These cars are equipped with the latest technology for safety and fuel efficiency. Chevy says that the Corvette is their most powerful vehicle while the Infiniti features the manufacturer’s first variable compression engine that delivers a strong performance and excellent fuel economy

The LA Auto Show is one of the top auto shows in the US. Expect to be entertained and informed about the latest car concepts, ideas and technologies in the market. Whether you plan to purchase a car, test drive or just admire the workmanship, it’s going to be one stimulating experience.
