LAFC can clinch playoff berth tonight
Today the Los Angeles Football Club takes the field in Sandy, Utah to face Real Salt Lake. With a win, LAFC can be the first team in MLS to secure a spot in the 2019 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. But, they will also need a loss or draw by FC Dallas against Montreal Impact
Going back to last season LAFC is 3-0 against RSL, including a 2-1 win at Banc of California Stadium on March 23.
This past Sunday (Aug.11) the Black and Gold defeated the New York Red Bulls, 4-2. Four different players scored in that match: Jordan Harvey, Latif Blessing, Carlos Vela on a penalty and Eddie Segura who got a header.
This team is poised to lead the league into the postseason. They have 55 points, a full 10 points ahead of their nearest competitor, The Philadelphia Union, who are in the Eastern Conference and 14 points ahead of the Minnesota Union in the Western Conference. Carlos Vela leads the league in goals (23) scored and is tied for first place in assists with Portland’s Diego Valen (15). Both lead the league in points at 23 each. Diego Rossi is 4thin the league with goals (13).
