Reds need some surprises from their pitching this year

It was a windy day at the Goodyear Ballpark, in Goodyear, Arizona, when I was watching the Cincinnati Reds in their spring training facility. The Reds are one of the few Eastern teams that have training camp in Arizona, part of that group from east of the Mississippi River.

Goodyear Ball Park is also home to the Cleveland Indians.

But on this day I was in Goodyear covering Cincinnati. In the off-season they had signed Marlon Byrd who had been in Philadelphia last year. There are questions about his age (37) and how long he will be playing, but he gives the Reds much needed power at the plate and he can still play the outfield very well.

It all comes down to pitching, like all the other teams in Spring Training. Manager Bryan Price admitted his team will need some surprises in the starting rotation and bullpen if the Reds are going to contend for post-season play.

Below is my video report.
