Beach weather this weekend
Wherever you spend the weekend in Southern California, the weather is going to be pretty good. We will have the usual morning clouds, but the afternoons should be sunny today through the weekend and into next week.
If you’re going to the beach, the water temperatures will be in the high 50s to low 60s, so it will be a little shocking as you get in the water. Air temps will be in the high 60’s at the beach and if you’re spending time inland, the air temps today will be in the low 80s. On Saturday and Sunday they will be in the mid to high 70s.
If you’re surfing southerly-facing beaches will probably have the best swells. Surfline is reporting Huntington Beach and the North Orange County will see the surf picking up in the next few hours, but fair surf in the OC and Los Angeles beaches.
If you’re at a North San Diego County beach the surfing will be fair today and Saturday, but poor to fair on Sunday. It’s going to be mostly cloudy throughout the weekend, especially Sunday, when we will also have a 20 percent chance of rain. The National Weather Service says to expect “patchy drizzle” Sunday morning, then the clouds giving way to sunny skies and temps in the high 60s. Right now the humidity in the North San Diego beach area is 89 percent.
It will be relatively the same in the rest of coastal San Diego County, according to the San Diego Lifeguard hotline (619-221-8824)
Scuba diving — and snorkeling — at La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Shores is good; 15 feet visibility with surface water temps at 61°f. The air temps will be about 5-7° warmer than the water.
In Los Angeles and the OC, expect fair diving conditions as well. Catalina Island will have good dive conditions this weekend, just mind the tide and check with the Scripps Institute for more information.
As the lifeguards suggest: always swim near lifeguards.
If you’re spending the weekend inland in San Diego County, the temps will be in the high 70s and possibly low 80s. Expect patchy drizzle Saturday night through Sunday morning and then later in the afternoon. That would be the same from Escondido down to El Cajon to the border.
And just a reminder: the Los Angeles Dodgers will have a three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals at Dodger Stadium, so you can take in a game. On Monday they follow up with a two-game series at home against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
On Wednesday the series will move to Angel Stadium in Anaheim for two games. Currently the Angels are on a road trip in Seattle to play the Mariners.
The San Diego Padres are on a road trip in Milwaukee to play the Brewers.
Bring an umbrella and enjoy the weekend.

We are not the typical news website – nor do we wish to be. We will be offering more than news and blogs, but an opportunity for fiction writers, poets, comedians and musicians to showcase their talent and skills. Much like when the Beatles formed Apple Corps Ltd, they opened the door to all kinds of inspiring talent that never really got a shot. From that came the likes of James Taylor and others. We hope by providing a similar approach we can shine the light on some tremendous undiscovered talent and at the same time offer some familiar voices who live in Los Angeles and beyond.
