Furys return to the Whisky a Go Go
All you old punks take note! Send the grandkids back to their parents and clear your calendar on February 16. You need to get your tickets for the return of the Furys at the Whisky a Go Go. All you young punks, this is how your parents — or grandparents — did it back in the day. Of course they were 40 years younger.
That doesn’t matter, the Furys are back with a vengeance touting a new EP, plus a box set of all their past recordings and a documentary that might tell all! Furys founder and frontman Jeff Wolfe said, “After numerous multi-generational requests, The Furys have been reformed to continue their campaign for world domination.”
The Furys formed in 1977 as a reaction, “… to the dreadful noise that was on the radio at that time.” Their first single was “Hey Ma/Jim Stark Dark,” released in true DIY fashion. They did it all from writing, performing, producing, promoting and distributing their music. They did the hard slog of selling tickets to their first gigs, as the price for getting the gigs.
For their gig at the Whisky the Furys don’t need to trudge up and down Sunset Blvd handing out fliers trying to sell tickets. You can buy them here: paypal.me/FurysPlayTheWhiskey
Tickets are just $20. February 16, 8:30 p.m. at the Whisky a Go Go, 8901 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA, 90069.
We are not the typical news website – nor do we wish to be. We will be offering more than news and blogs, but an opportunity for fiction writers, poets, comedians and musicians to showcase their talent and skills. Much like when the Beatles formed Apple Corps Ltd, they opened the door to all kinds of inspiring talent that never really got a shot. From that came the likes of James Taylor and others. We hope by providing a similar approach we can shine the light on some tremendous undiscovered talent and at the same time offer some familiar voices who live in Los Angeles and beyond.
