Memorial Day: Remembering our fallen warriors

Today is Memorial Day, when we remember those who have served, but are no longer with us, especially those who, as Abraham Lincoln put it on November 19, 1863 in his Gettysburg Address, “… gave their last full measure of devotion.”
From Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California, we honor our fallen heroes and celebrate their devotion to the cause of preserving our nation.
Most of us will have the day off and enjoy a day of relaxing, maybe with a grill surrounded by family and friends. We should take advantage of this day to enjoy ourselves, but let us suggest that each of us take a moment to remember and honor the men and women who have given that last full measure of devotion.
You can find Memorial Day observances in national cemeteries across the nation. Or you can put a flag on your home or lawn and honor the fallen in your own personal way.
We hope you have a safe and enjoyable holiday.

We are not the typical news website – nor do we wish to be. We will be offering more than news and blogs, but an opportunity for fiction writers, poets, comedians and musicians to showcase their talent and skills. Much like when the Beatles formed Apple Corps Ltd, they opened the door to all kinds of inspiring talent that never really got a shot. From that came the likes of James Taylor and others. We hope by providing a similar approach we can shine the light on some tremendous undiscovered talent and at the same time offer some familiar voices who live in Los Angeles and beyond.
