Mother Nature has cures for the common cold
Oh, oh to be plagued by sickness and colds and bugs is just horrid. I’ll be glad to see the back of January and February. It’s taken its toll on my body, and I’ve had enough of it.
My cures are now consisting of the following ingredients:
Avocados; Cucumbers; Mint; Limes; Lemons; Grapefruit; Kale; Spinach; Blueberries; Honey 🙂
I’m mixing up these things for my medicine pot. Green smoothies are the best — they are packed with vitamins and essential nutrients to help your body get restored. I’m beginning to feel better … slowly.
It only stands to reason that if you want to beat a cold, you need to increase the fruits and vegetables in your diet.
Of course, the best fruits with a reputation for being high in Vitamin C include:
- lemons,
- limes,
- oranges,
- grapefruit
- and pineapple.
Other smoothie-enrichers from the fruit kingdom that also rank at the top of the vitamin C charts include papaya, kiwi, strawberries, cantaloupe and guava.
From the vegetable realm, there are:
- Brussels sprouts,
- broccoli,
- kale,
- kohlrabi,
- bell peppers
- and tomatoes.
The vitamin boost of a green smoothie is an obvious benefit, so I’m getting out the blender again today. Another benefit of this smoothie is the energy increase you get from it, and higher energy means a greater ability to exercise, especially in aerobic activities. And that means fewer colds! I’ll be off to teach class as soon as I’ve had one!
Keep well, one and all!
