Planes collide in San Diego County
Two private airplanes, a twin engine Sabreliner and a single engine Cessna 172, were attempting to land at Brown Field, a community airport at Otay Mesa, in East San Diego, collided and crashed. Three people were reported killed by the San Diego Fire Department.
Brown Field is just 1.5 miles from the U.S./Mexico border. It is a difficult airport for take-offs and landings due to the 3,600 foot mountains on either end of the runway, including Otay Mountain.
On March 16, 1991, seven members of Reba McEntire’s band, and her road manager, were killed when the plane the were on crashed into Otay Mountain while taking off from Brown Field.
Today’s crashed sparked a small brush fire, but the firefighters were able to contain the small fire.

We are not the typical news website – nor do we wish to be. We will be offering more than news and blogs, but an opportunity for fiction writers, poets, comedians and musicians to showcase their talent and skills. Much like when the Beatles formed Apple Corps Ltd, they opened the door to all kinds of inspiring talent that never really got a shot. From that came the likes of James Taylor and others. We hope by providing a similar approach we can shine the light on some tremendous undiscovered talent and at the same time offer some familiar voices who live in Los Angeles and beyond.
