According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department several agencies are involved with fighting the fire, which began in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area near the dam for the San Gabriel River and Rio Hondo. The department also said the fire broke out shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday.

Lincoln Blvd has been closed and the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies in the area are considering whether to close other streets and highways as well.

The fire jumped Lincoln Blvd and spread to Montebello Hills and an oil field, which was immediately shut down. It’s also been reported the fire jumped the Pomona Freeway (State Highway 60).
