Brush fire in Montebello
A brush fire in Montebello has been reported by a number of Los Angeles-area news outlets. Air support has been called in to help contain what is now being called the “Lincoln Fire.”
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department several agencies are involved with fighting the fire, which began in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area near the dam for the San Gabriel River and Rio Hondo. The department also said the fire broke out shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday.
Lincoln Blvd has been closed and the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies in the area are considering whether to close other streets and highways as well.
The fire jumped Lincoln Blvd and spread to Montebello Hills and an oil field, which was immediately shut down. It’s also been reported the fire jumped the Pomona Freeway (State Highway 60).
The Southland was under an extreme heat advisory from the National Weather Service at the time and firefighters are working in 100°f temperatures as they battle the blaze.
Residents in the area are urged to stay tuned to on-air news media for further updates.

We are not the typical news website – nor do we wish to be. We will be offering more than news and blogs, but an opportunity for fiction writers, poets, comedians and musicians to showcase their talent and skills. Much like when the Beatles formed Apple Corps Ltd, they opened the door to all kinds of inspiring talent that never really got a shot. From that came the likes of James Taylor and others. We hope by providing a similar approach we can shine the light on some tremendous undiscovered talent and at the same time offer some familiar voices who live in Los Angeles and beyond.
