Mancation: Partyline app

Listen to this article

During the previous Mancation I tried to find a new dating site because Tinder has been taken over by average looking people. I came across an app called “PartyLine” and thought it seemed creepy and weird, but could be amusing if I was drunk enough.

A few days later I received an email from Joe Thomas, the co-founder of Partyline explaining that although it allows strangers to speak on the phone together, no phone numbers are exchanged. Thus making it a less creepy app than I originally thought.

Breaking from Mancation tradition, I enlisted the help of Token and several of my girlfriends to get a variety of viewpoints, making my review completely fair and accurate, as always. #nonjudgmentalblogger

Call #1: Cole

As soon as I clicked “accept” on my phone I heard a couple of young boys whispering on the other end. After the initial hello’s I got down to business.

I learned that “Cole” was 18 years old (I told him I was 21 for research purposes), he was in New Jersey, and was hanging out with some friends.

  1.  I chose 35years old and up on the app, but was paired with an 18 year old.
  2. Why would I want to be paired up with someone from New Jersey when I’m in LA?

We made small talk for a few minutes and he asked if I have Kik. I told him that I was using my mom’s phone and it wasn’t downloaded. He asked me to use Skype as well, but I didn’t want him to know that I was really 36 so I told him that I’m really only 16 years old and grounded from my phone and computer … that’s when he told me he was also 16.

He then told me he’s actually just visiting New Jersey from Palestine and gave me a very interesting take on his ideas of Israel, Palestine, the Jewish Religion, and Hitler. It got super weird super fast when I felt like they wanted to recruit me for something I didn’t want to be involved in. #notprincecharming

Call #2: Marilyn

2-MarilynI let Token take the handle on this call, hoping he’d have a better time than my last Partyline call. We made sure to choose 18+ on the app because he certainly didn’t want to be a 36-year-old man talking to an underage girl. #creepyoldmen

But, on the phone were two 16 year old girls in Texas that like to “drink, smoke, f*&k”, and hang out with their “ho’s, and side ho’s”.  #hoesarefarmtools

  1. They sound like sweet high school girls. #sarcasm
  2. It’s creepy that adult men/women can easily get paired up to kids under the age of 18.
  3. Again, why do I want to talk to someone in Texas while I am in California?

There’s a seemingly easy way to send photos through the app, so when the girls asked for one we sent it, but it never went through. When we tried to re-send it, we weren’t allowed. We waited over 20 minutes for the photo to go through, but it never worked.

The girls openly talked about doing drugs, drinking, smoking cigarettes, and having sex. One of the girls asked Token to be her boyfriend, he said “sure”, so she gave him her Facebook information.

  1. What is wrong with kids these days?  They should NOT give their private information out to strangers!
  2. Where are the parents while they are out being hoodlums and talking to men on a phone app?
  3. Partyline needs to fix the bug so people can at least send photos… isn’t that the fun part?

Bro&hosCall #3: drenn73

At a late night party, I opened the Partyline App one more time. #drunk

This time we searched either men or women of any age and got paired up with a 40-year-old used car salesman in New York. He said although he was looking for a female to talk to, he didn’t mind talking to a group of partygoers in Los Angeles. #longhairdontcare

4-DrennI told him I was surprised to find an adult using the App, and he admitted that he’s normally paired up with very young girls although he’s looking for women over the age of 25.

The real question is … would I use Partyline as a dating app?  Nope.

Would I use Partyline if I was drunk and not so unbelievably good-looking? For sure!
