The Los Angeles Chargers announced they would be holding auditions for their Chargers Girls cheer and dance team. The auditions will begin May 6 at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. Registration and check-in begin at 10 a.m. followed by the preliminary dance audition at 11 a.m.
Charger Girls Director Lisa Simmons said, “We are looking for dancers who combine star-quality talent with crowd appeal, showmanship, and energy. Professionalism and character are equally important, and all Charger Girls are expected to embody the same level of excellence our organization demands on and off the field.”
Applications can be found online only at CHARGERSGIRLS.com
Applicants must be 18 or older by May 6, 2017. Prospective dancers are encouraged to send a 5×7 (or larger) headshot and/or full-body shot with their application. Walk-ups will be accepted at the door.
The Chargers are expecting 60 finalists to be chosen for the next step in the process, which will include one-on-one interviews May 8-9 and then a comprehensive panel interview May 10. The final audition is scheduled for May 11 and then 2017 Chargers Girls will be announced May 12 on the Chargers website.
Besides performing at all home games, at the StubHub Center, the Chargers Girl will appear in the team’s annual swimsuit calendar and serve as ambassadors for the Chargers at charity, community and business events.
The Chargers Girls have taken part in events for the Make-a-Wish foundation, Wounded Warriors, American Diabetes Association and D.A.R.E.
To prepare for a chance to join the cheer and dance team, the team is offering two workshops, costing $40 each. They will take place on the following dates:
- April 22 @ Dance Dynamics, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., 22576 Avenida Empresa, Rancho Santa Margarita
- April 25 @ USC Galen Center, 6:30-9:30 p.m., 3400 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles
The Charger Girls were formed in 1990 and have performed at the Super Bowl and internationally in Berlin, Germany; Tokyo, Japan; and Sydney, Australia.

We are not the typical news website – nor do we wish to be. We will be offering more than news and blogs, but an opportunity for fiction writers, poets, comedians and musicians to showcase their talent and skills. Much like when the Beatles formed Apple Corps Ltd, they opened the door to all kinds of inspiring talent that never really got a shot. From that came the likes of James Taylor and others. We hope by providing a similar approach we can shine the light on some tremendous undiscovered talent and at the same time offer some familiar voices who live in Los Angeles and beyond.
