Defeating the Trump Cult Should Be the Top Issue in November
The Department of Justice is investigating the former president on two different cases. He is being investigated by at least two states for alleged crimes and he has over 200 diluted sycophants running for local, state and national offices proclaiming the 2020 presidential election was stolen from the former president — the Big Lie. What the hell is wrong with people?
Not that long ago I was asking, myself mostly, why these idiot voters in the so-called red states were continually voting against their best interests, The GOP base roared with approval whenever a GOP governor announced — with great fanfare — he/she was turning down billions of Medicaid dollars that could give healthcare to millions of people. The very people that would have benefited from the expansion of Medicaid voted for the politicians who denied them the opportunities to get health care through the Affordable Care Act, i.e. Obamacare.
What the hell is wrong with people?
Just call it Obamacare and tell poor white people it was for the Black and Brown folks who would be getting something at the White peoples’ expense. But when those same ignorant voters were told the Affordable Care Act could give then affordable health care, they loved the ACA. Just as long they didn’t have to accept Obamacare.
So, when I read and hear about voters in all 50 states exclaim the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald J. Trump … eh, it isn’t surprising.
Every week I watch Real Time with Bill Maher. I disagree with Bill on a number of issues, including this: You can’t insult or mock Trump supporters because that isn’t helping the cause. Which is different than his belief in 2017 when he called Trump voters “stupid.” But what the hell, I will stipulate people can change their minds — if they are not ardent Trump supporters and QAnon believers. As far as I am concerned people in the Trump/QAnon Cult are still stupid, five years later.
The campaign of Herschel Walker is a joke that has very few people laughing. The former football player — star football player — is running against current Georgia Senator, Reverend Rafael Warnock for that senate seat. Walker once said there are 52 states, which is funny, but not very absurd. While running for president in 2008 Candidate Barack Obama said there were 57 states. He was correcting himself later that day.
Candidates make goofy mistakes like that. Hell, I’ve been correcting typos in this as I read it. What perked up the ears of everyone was Walker’s response to the criticism he was getting. It wasn’t much of correction of himself as it was a disclaimer about the number of concussions he suffered while in the NFL Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich put Walker’s mistake down as an effect of concussions and Walker wanted to let everyone know we couldn’t put everything on concussions.
But that whole episode took place in June. This is early October, about a month away from the Midterm elections. Walker’s latest scandal? He allegedly paid a former girlfriend for her abortion of the fetus they had conceived.
Right now Walker claims to be very anti-choice. He believes women should be forced to carry a fetus regardless of the situation, i.e. conceived from rape or incest, or if the mother’s life is at stake. It makes difficult situations even more difficult, especially if the woman’s life is in jeopardy. And he claims he doesn’t know the woman who said Walker paid for her abortion. She also said she has one of his children and he has been a dead beat dad for more than 10 years.
The absurdity in the Georgia senate race is that Walker is running neck-and-neck with Warnock. The so-called evangelical voters are choosing the laughably unqualified Walker, who has exhibited a penchant from breaking many of the 10 commandments, instead of an actual minister who has studied the very holy book the evangelicals claim they believe in. Why? So conservatives can flip the U.S. Senate from Democrat control to the GOP.
MASA = Make America Stupid Again.
On the Showtime program, The Circus, the crew, which now includes former GOP operative Tim Miller, were in Arizona to illustrate just how much peril our democracy is in. The state has candidates for governor, secretary of state and the U.S. Senate who all believe the Big Lie, i.e. the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Trump.
The woman running for governor, Kari Lake, is the most dangerous of all because some voters find her appealing simply because she is physically attractive … and of course she claims to believes the Big Lie.
No candidate from either side of the political aisle is going to persuade the hard core MAGA/QAnon Trump Cult members that the 2020 election was fair and legal. What other candidates running in 2022 must do is show the difference between them and the MAGA/QAnon Trump Cult candidates and the dangers to democracy they pose for America.
In Arizona the MAGA/QAnon Trump Cult is trying to claim Senator Mark Kelly is on the extreme left … Kelly’s views on abortion and the U.S.-Mexico border are at best, moderate. Sometime before the election I expect we’ll see the Masters campaign and their aligned PACs criticizing Kelly’s military and NASA careers. Here’s the polling from fivethirtyeight.com concerning the Mark Kelly senate race.
Back in the state of my birth, Wisconsin, the most ignorant … oh wait, there’s that football coach in Alabama to consider now — could he be any more racist? … One of the worst members of the U.S. Senate is Ron Johnson, who not only is an election denier, he claims the January 6 insurrection wasn’t a big deal. Johnson was one of the Senators that tried to give then VEEP Mike Pence fraudulent electoral ballots for Pence to count.
In an email the Director of the Wisconsin Republican Party, Mark Jefferson, referred to the MAGA Cult fraudulent electors as, “trump idiots.” One of their fraudulent electors, Andrew Hitt, actually said he didn’t expect the phony ballots to be sent to Pence. As Law Forward lawyer Mel Barnes said, ““If he and other electors didn’t want these to be counted they shouldn’t have mailed them off to Congress.”
Wisconsin is one of the states with morally bankrupt abortion laws so it is imperative for the Democrats to take control of both houses of the state legislature and keep Governor Tony Evers in office.
Plus throw Senator Ron Johnson out on his fanny. You can contribute to his opponent’s campaign here. His name is Mandela Barnes. You can find him on Facebook here and on Twitter here.
Every Democratic candidate for any level, local, state and federal, can be found on social media and you will find ways to contribute, It can be as little as $3. Most of my contributions have been between $5 and $10. Do what you feel is good for you.
There are approximately 250 MAGA/QAnon Trump Cult devotees running for office across this land, many of them for offices that can affect the results of elections. They must be sent back to the rocks they crawled out from under as we wash the stain of Trumpism from our national fabric. Let’s hope the DOJ holds Trump and his top confederates accountable for their actions leading up to and including, the January 6 Insurrection.
Tim Forkes started as a writer on a small alternative newspaper in Milwaukee called the Crazy Shepherd. Writing about entertainment, he had the opportunity to speak with many people in show business, from the very famous to the people struggling to find an audience. In 1992 Tim moved to San Diego, CA and pursued other interests, but remained a freelance writer. Upon arrival in Southern California he was struck by how the elected government officials and business were so intertwined, far more so than he had witnessed in Wisconsin. His interest in entertainment began to wane and the business of politics took its place. He had always been interested in politics, his mother had been a Democratic Party official in Milwaukee, WI, so he sat down to dinner with many of Wisconsin’s greatest political names of the 20th Century: William Proxmire and Clem Zablocki chief among them. As a Marine Corps veteran, Tim has a great interest in veteran affairs, primarily as they relate to the men and women serving and their families. As far as Tim is concerned, the military-industrial complex has enough support. How the men and women who serve are treated is reprehensible, while in the military and especially once they become veterans. Tim would like to help change that.
