Thinking of going to Las Vegas next weekend? Here’s a thought: while you are sipping a few too many margaritas at the pool you can be gambling on your smart phone, tablet or laptop.

The gaming resort giant, MGM Resorts International launched a mobile gaming platform, easyPLAY® Mobile Tournaments, that gives guests a chance to win thousands of dollars without being in a casino. There will be regularly scheduled tournaments for  slots, bingo and video poker, as well as “fun, social casual and console games.”

This is the first digital and interactive tournament to be offered by a regulated casino in the United States. The gaming platform was developed by oneLIVE, Inc, a mobile gaming tech company. Guests at nine of the most popular Las Vegas resorts can compete with other players, using they own mobile devices, in a variety of tournament games. No matter where the players might be in the casinos —  at the pool, the bar, one of the resort restaurants or just relaxing in their rooms, they can take part in these casino games. And you can win thousands of dollars doing it.

The nine resorts taking part in this new venture are: ARIA Resort & Casino, Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, Luxor, New York-New York and Excalibur.

Spin Games LLC of Reno, Nevada and Touchstone Games, Ltd. of the United Kingdom provide the games for oneLIVE’s charter content, but unique games will be added in the future.

The first large contest being offered is the Winner Takes All Progressive Slot Tournament that will take place all summer long. For a $5 entry fee, made before September 4, guests can spin the wheels to win a minimum of $10,000.

According to Tom Mikulich, Senior Vice President of Business Development for MGM Resorts International, “The tournaments are extremely user-friendly, provide players with a variety of game options including slots and bingo, among others, and bring an element of competition that our guests will enjoy whether they are sitting at a bar enjoying a drink or simply hanging out by the pool.” He adds, “The introduction of easyPLAY® Mobile Tournaments at our MGM Resorts properties gives our guests an exciting, new opportunity to play their favorite games while enjoying the best Las Vegas has to offer.”

Michael Jabara, President & CEO of oneLIVE inc. said, “MGM Resorts leads the way with creating innovative experiences and programming for its guests. With our easyPLAY® Interactive Tournament Platform, MGM Resorts’ guests now have access to fantastic contests and tournaments that weren’t possible before.”
