All-Star chronicles on YouTube
If you go to our YouTube Channel you will find the nine videos our reporter, Claudia Gestro made from the three days we covered the event. from the Futures Game to the All-Star Game itself, with post-game comments and press conference clips.
We even have a tribute to San Diego Padres Hall-of-Famer Tony Gwynn. This year’s Midsummer Classic was played at Petco Park in San Diego, the “House that Tony Gwynn Built.” We thought it was appropriate to honor a player that is, for most people, the greatest hitter since Ted Williams, another San Diegan.
The two actually met at the 1992 All-Star Game and Gwynn said that meeting Williams changed his batting style so significantly that he was able to hit to any place on the field. Until then Gwynn was primarily an opposite field hitter. He also began to hit for power and Gwynn credits Williams for the advice on how to do it.
Besides that video we have the tribute to David “Big Papi” Ortiz, the Boston Red Sox hitter who played in his last All-Star game, some wraps of the Futures Game and Home Run Derby, as well as the All-Star Game itself. Claudia has a short interview with Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager, as well as the ASG MVP Eric Hosmer of the Kansas City Royals, Mark Trumbo of the Baltimore Orioles and Kenley Jansen of the Dodgers.
You’ll hear from Daniel Murphy of the Washington Nationals, Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins, after he won the Home Run Derby, Will Myers of the San Diego Padres and Drew Pomeranz, who was with the Padres for the All-Star Game, but is now with the Red Sox.
We have comments from both managers, Terry Collins of the New York Mets managing the National League, and Ned Yost of the Kansas City Royals, managing the American League. They won the game 4-2.
We have comments from both starting pitchers: Johnny Cueto of the San Francisco Giants and Chris Sale of the Chicago White Sox.
Nine video reports in all — plus videos from the first half of the season, the NBA playoffs, including the Finals, and the NHL Stanley Cup Final. If you want to get deep into out baseball archives we have videos from Spring Traning in Arizona. Not to mention Super Bowl 50, the NBA All-Star Game week and more. Very popular right now is Claudia’s interviews with Kenta Maeda, Corey Seager and Trayce Thompson. Claudia has had the opportunity to interview Seager and Thompson on multiple occasions.

We are not the typical news website – nor do we wish to be. We will be offering more than news and blogs, but an opportunity for fiction writers, poets, comedians and musicians to showcase their talent and skills. Much like when the Beatles formed Apple Corps Ltd, they opened the door to all kinds of inspiring talent that never really got a shot. From that came the likes of James Taylor and others. We hope by providing a similar approach we can shine the light on some tremendous undiscovered talent and at the same time offer some familiar voices who live in Los Angeles and beyond.
