RAW Awards celebrate independent artists in 5th annual show
It’s been a big week for the Arts in Los Angeles. On Sunday, the Fifth Annual Raw Indie Arts Awards gave out awards in nine categories from a pool of over 15,000 artists.
The winners were as follows:
Visual Artist of the Year: Jennifer Hansen
Fashion Designer of the Year: Corvus + Crux
Musical Artist of the Year: Belmont Lights
Makeup Artist of the Year: Angela Rene Roberts
Hair Stylist of the Year: Vanessa Rockey
Filmmaker of the Year: Blackwood FX
Photographer of the Year: Kait O’Brien
Performer of the Year: Paulina Pulido
Accessories of the Year: Yoro Creations
Live performances by Anson Sky, Kelsy Karter, Black Top Royalty, Chris Rutledge, Envy Dance, and Chriss provided excellent entertainment.
There was a gallery featuring art and photo installations from Denise Eve, Michael Bellotti, Alysha Olsen, Jenny I LEee, Tiffany Gosselin, Mackenzie Lenora, Andrew Pisula, Kelsie Nicole, Sabrina Brett, Alex Houlton, Angela Stella, Abbi Cooley, Kyle Rea, Jeff Joseph, Erac, Caitlin Kouba, and Playstop.
Runway shows by Lawren Michele, Cheryl Koo, and Le Posh Noir stole the show.
RAW, a community of independent artists, was founded in 2003 by Heidi Luerra. It has since become one of the world’s largest organizations for independent artists and operates in over 60 cities across the globe.
Cat Doss is an artist/writer/filmmaker/performer living in the Los Angeles area. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia. A classically trained painter and a winner of multiple awards in various disciplines, Cat refuses to confine herself to one medium preferring to experiment with her work and investigate the workings behind the creative process.
