The Los Angeles Rams entered into the biggest trade deal in NFL Draft history with the Tennessee Titans to get the overall number one pick in the draft. It’s been no secret the Rams have wanted to improve at the quarterback position and with the number one pick the they home to score a franchise QB.

General Manager Les Snead told the media he first started the talks with Tennessee’s General Manager Jon Robinson during the NFL Combine in February. The two teams had suites next to one another at the combine so the conversations started easily enough.

Snead said, “Lo and behold, the Titans were our neighbor this year so it was easy for Jon and I to sneak out the back of the suite there and act like we were going to the restroom and chat about the pick.”

The conversations continued until a deal was finalized late Wednesday afternoon. But both teams decided to wait until Thursday before announcing the deal.

Head coach Jeff Fisher explained, “As you are well aware it was our intention collectively on behalf of both organizations, the Titans and our organization, to hold on the news out of respect for the Laker organization and what took place in his (Kobe Bryant) farewell, which was pretty impressive with 60 points on the board.”

The deal is as follows: the Rams will get the first pick in the NFL Draft, plus the Titans’ fourth and sixth round picks this year.

The Titans get the Rams’ #15 pick, two second round picks and a third round pick, as well as first and third round picks in next year’s draft.

The two quarterbacks the Rams are looking at the most are North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz and California’s Jared Goff. Both are considered the best quarterbacks available in the draft.

This much is certain: we won’t know for sure who will be the Rams’ pick until the draft on April 28.
