Battle on the Midway takes place November 20
San Diegans know what’s happening. On Tuesday, November 20, the “Battle on the Midway” will take place and there are still a limited number of tickets available. For those that don’t know: it’s a wrestling match between two college teams, in this case, Fresno State and Stanford.
Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased from Eventbrite here and Left Coast Wrestling here. If you don’t order online you can purchase tickets from 12-5 p.m. in the lobby of the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Diego Bay Downtown (601 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101) on Monday Nov. 19 and Tuesday Nov. 20.
Tickets must be purchased in advance as there will be no walk-up sales at the USS Midway the night of the event. Gates to the Midway will open at 6 p.m. and prelims begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Fresno State Bulldogs are in the Big 12 and have a record of 2-3. The Stanford Cardinal have a record of 1-0. This is the second appearance in the “Battle on the Midway” for Fresno State.

Decommissioned in 1992, the USS Midway is the United States’ longest-serving aircraft carrier, having served more than 200,000 sailors from 1945-92. Originally commissioned a week after the end of WWII, the Midway saw action during the Vietnam War and it served as the Persian Gulf flagship in Operation Desert Storm.
The most-popular maritime museum in the United States, the USS Midway has previously hosted sporting events, including a college basketball game between Syracuse and San Diego State. The inaugural Battle on the Midway was the first collegiate wrestling event staged atop the iconic carrier.
We are not the typical news website – nor do we wish to be. We will be offering more than news and blogs, but an opportunity for fiction writers, poets, comedians and musicians to showcase their talent and skills. Much like when the Beatles formed Apple Corps Ltd, they opened the door to all kinds of inspiring talent that never really got a shot. From that came the likes of James Taylor and others. We hope by providing a similar approach we can shine the light on some tremendous undiscovered talent and at the same time offer some familiar voices who live in Los Angeles and beyond.
